The ADAPTOR source to source translation , the
different ADAPTOR runtime systems , and the
compiler driver
are available as C programs
and require only a C compiler and the Gnu m4 Macro Processor.
For the generated code to be compiled, linked and run, the following
components are required:
- A FORTRAN 77 compiler is sufficient for compiling a parallel
program based on usual array syntax. If the input program contains
modules, derived data types, pointers or if some other special features
of Fortran 90 are used, a Fortran 90 compiler is required.
- The distributed memory execution model for HPF programs (-hpf -dm,
see Figure 1)
requires a MPI message-passing library.
- The shared memery execution model (-sm can be chosen for OpenMP
(-omp) and HPF programs (-hpf) and is based on a
PThread library that must be available in this case.
- A parallel programming environment in which parallel programs
can be loaded and executed on a parallel machine.
Note: The Fortran and C compiler do not have to support OpenMP as thread
parallelism is exploited directly via PThreads.
